Essential Body Bar Grand Opening – Syppin With Symone

On Saturday July 21, 2018 I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening for Essential Body Bar located in the heart of Houston’s 4th Ward Community. As a beauty enthuses I was delighted when I received an invitation. The grand opening started at one however I arrived at about 1:15 because even with GPS sometimes I am still direction illiterate (judge as you will because I know I’m not the only person with this problem.) As soon as I knocked on the door I was greeted with a warm welcome from Chasity Mims who let me in and told me to go ahead and look around.
I looked over to my left (Tweet’s voice) and saw the guest book but I passed it up because I saw the wall of products. The thing that caught my eye was the coffee mugs because I love a mug with a quote on it! Besides mugs, the product wall included essential oils and natural medicine. Side note, I am a fan of The Real Housewives of Potomac series and one of the ladies on the show, Monique Samuels is into oils and she is also taking about how they can cure and heal different ailments. The Essential Body Bar had peppermint oil on display; I wasn’t familiar with how that one worked so I asked Angela if she could explain it to me. She was very knowledgeable on the subject. As someone who used to work in the makeup/skin industry I found this quite refreshing because sometimes the saleswomen cant always articulate the products. After she was done explain the products to me, she had me choose my free service of the day. The choices were: a facial analysis, an eyebrow waxing, and an express chair massage. I opted for the eyebrow waxing.
My eyebrows before the waxing,
The Eye Brow Waxing
For the eyebrow waxing, I was led to a room on the second floor Essential Body Bar, I’m going to talk a wild guess and say the second floor is where they service the clients. The eyebrow room was very cute. It was a very inmate space containing a ring light, waxing table, and an area told hold all of the waxing products. I informed Angela that I had not gotten my eyebrows waxed in two years. Now, the reason for this is because I wanted super thick eyebrows but they stopped growing. However I have really cute brows so going two years without doing anything wasn’t an issue for me. She suggested that I used aloe oil to make them grow. I felt like she could read my mind because out of nowhere she said, “this will not be like how they do things at the nail shop.” I was relieved because I used to cringe when getting them done there. She told me she was a former employee of European Wax Center so I was thrilled. I’m used to getting waxes there so I know the drill. She placed a little bit of wax on my eyebrow and bam, it was off. It did not hurt at all. Also she was very quick. It felt like five minutes. When I looked in the mirror I was very pleased. Since its summertime and the time of the year where I become “no makeup shawty” the clean up that she did was perfect. This means I don’t have to fill in my eyebrows for a while. Although I’ve become accustomed to not getting my eyebrows done, I think I’m going to start doing it every two months. Let’s chat how often do you get your brows done?
After the waxing,
